DID YOU KNOW?
Emus are the
second largest
bird in the world.
Emus live in eucalyptus forest, woodland, heath land, desert shrub lands and sand plains in Australia.
• Males sometimes make calls, which sound like “e-moo” and can be heard over long distances. Females make resonant, booming sounds.
(Listen very carefully and see what noise you can hear!)
• A group of Emu’s is called a Mob.
• Meerkats use at least 10 vocalisations including an alarm bark and threatening growl.
• In South Africa, meerkats are often kept to kill rats and mice around homes.
