The Kune Kune is a small breed of domestic pig. Its name means ‘small, round and fat’ in Maori, a native language of New Zealand. The Kune Kune pigs
were originally kept by the native
Maori people in New Zealand. They
were first brought to the UK in 1992.

• Pigs have poor vision but excellent
senses of smell and hearing.
• Pigs use their snout for rutting and
foraging.
• Pigs’ skin lacks hair, so they are very
sensitive to the sun. In the wild they
wallow in the mud to stay cool and
protect their skin.
