Habitat

The Kune Kune is a small breed of domestic pig. Its name means ‘small, round and fat’ in Maori, a native language of New Zealand. The Kune Kune pigs were originally kept by the native Maori people in New Zealand. They were first brought to the UK in 1992.

Fun Facts

Pigs have poor vision but excellent senses of smell and hearing. Pigs use their snout for rutting and foraging. Pigs’ skin lacks hair, so they are very sensitive to the sun. In the wild they wallow in the mud to stay cool and protect their skin.
