The ring tailed
lemur’s tail is
longer than its body!

Lemurs occupy many different habitats in Madagascar, including rainforests, wetlands and mountains. The Lemur is thought to require primary forest (forests which have remained undisturbed by human activity) in order to survive.
Such forests are now being cleared at an alarming rate.

Lemurs have one claw on each of their back feet. Their hands allow these
animals to grab branches for climbing and feeding. Young lemurs also use this grip to hold onto their mother’s fur.

Ring-tailed lemurs have powerful scent glands and mark their territory by scent, serving notice of their presence to all who can smell.
